Okay, I know it's been a very long time since I last posted anything. Things happen...what more can I say? Anyway...
Went to Arby's the other day with my roomie. We had coupons for a free Roastburger® if you purchased a drink. So off we went expecting to enjoy a new sandwich from a place we like to eat at when we have coupons. It's a little over budget with coupons.
There was only one person ahead of us and I ordered the All-American without tomato or mayo. No problems as my order came up rather fast. My roomie ordered the Bacon Cheddar one. Right after he places his orders 5 or 6 other people walk in. I take my order and sit down and being the polite guy I am, I wait for my friend to get his order before I eat.
Five minutes later I hear the cashier politely ask the back kitchen for my friend's order and the other orders he was waiting on. Someone in the back starts yelling that someone cleared the board and she doesn't know what's waiting to be made. And by yelling I mean it was heard loudly on the far side of the dining area. The cashier politely told the lady yelling what was needed. After another 3 to 5 mins. he had his order and sits down with me. I believe the lady yelling was the night supervisor/manager as she was wearing a different blouse than the other team members.
I opened the box my sandwich came in and noticed that there was very little lettuce and a small amount of roast beef. I showed it to my friend and said this isn't going to make it if this is how they're made. No one is going to keep buying these if you get more on a regular roast beef, but have to pay more for a Roastburger®. He opened his and he had double the lettuce (mine was very finely shredded pieces that barely covered the bottom of the bun) and more than double the roast beef. The "cheddar" cheese tasted like "American Processed" cheese to him, so he took it off and I tasted it...it was "American Processed" cheese, in my opinion. The bacon was two small pieces, one was .5" x 3" and the other was .75" by 2". No lie 'cause he didn't want it and I took it home to measure it!
Now you're probably saying, it was free so what does it matter? Firstly, the kitchen didn't know it was free and secondly, the coupon was to get people to try the new sandwich and get them to come back for more. Free or not it should have been made the way it's going to be sold when you're not using a coupon. In my opinion these Roastburger® sandwiches will not last. We went back a week or so later during lunchtime. In the 45 mins. we were there, no one at the inside counter ordered the new sandwich (I can't say about the drive-thru).
Lastly, I took the online Arby's survey and complained. I left my email addy in the comments section and 2 weeks later haven't heard from them. Probably won't.
