Fascinating Stories: Stupid in America

Stupid in America
20/20 Investigation on Education in America

20/20 investigation by John Stossel entitled, “Stupid in America” highlighting some of the flaws with the education system in the United States. The story started out when identical tests were given to high school students in New Jersey and in Belgium. The Belgian kids cleaned the American kids’ clocks. The Belgian kids called the American students “stupid,” which gave the piece its name. Jay Greene, author of “Education Myths,” points out that “if money were the solution, the problem would already be solved: we’ve doubled per pupil spending, adjusting for inflation, over the last 30 years, and yet schools aren’t better.” [Length 40:45]

Laugh of the Day

From my friend Brian...

MY LIVING WILL

Last night, my friend and I were sitting in the living room and I said to her,

“I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug.”

She got up, unplugged the TV, and threw out my wine.

She’s such a bitch...

BROWN BEARS, by Bob Ettinger,
Geographic Harbor, AK, USA

The brown bear is a species of bear distributed throughout the Northern hemisphere. Weighing up to 130–700 kg (290–1,500 pounds), the larger races of brown bear tie with the Polar bear as the largest extant land carnivores. The grizzly bear, the Kodiak Bear, and the Mexican Grizzly are North American subspecies of the brown bear.

They’re so dang cute!
